When Ruth's List came to me with a project about a coalition of women's organizations coming together to celebrate 2016 as the Year of the Woman, for a documentary + conversation series to increase civic engagement and awareness among young women in Miami - I was SO THERE.
And so was my soul sister, Nadia Payan. We spent Superbowl Sunday with the game on mute waiting for Beyoncé's half-time show as we brainstormed on what the "women's movement" means to women today and how we can come together as women to get more involved and make a difference in our communities on this very important year.
And so Come Together: Like a Woman, was born: a fresh and inclusive campaign that would bring Miami's diverse communities of young women together to discuss what being a woman means to us today and how we can take action together as women.
A fun, fresh and inclusive tone on social media, coupled with a focused strategy of RSVP's directed at Facebook events and Eventbrite led to sold out performances earlier this year. Nadia and I created a webinar for the coalition of organizations, introducing the campaign and providing step by step instructions for customized content. We distribute copy and graphics tailored to each event.
The next is coming up in August 2016. Stay tuned for updates by following me on Instagram!
